I have been back to Asheville and to Kansas the past couple of weeks.
Asheville is always nice to visit. After work one night I went to explore the Grove Park Inn.
Last week it was back to Kansas. After my flight got in I stopped to have lunch at the City Market in Kansas City and was thrilled that this museum was part of the complex.
The Arabia was a steamboat that went down in the Missouri River in 1856. It was fully loaded with supplies for 6 stores up the river. Nothing was salvaged after it snagged because it sunk into the sand and mud and a day later only the smokestacks were visible.
And so much more. It is the largest collection of pre civil war items.
If you have the chance to visit, do it!
So we are caught up!
I hope that you are having a great week!
I will draw names Sunday for the charts in the last post.
Have some fun this week!
Chris

OMG! I've been to the Steamboat Arabia museum too! We absolutely loved it. It still amazes me how much stuff they found. Did they still have the bowl of calico buttons on display? That took my breath away when I saw all of them. BBQ is always a good idea in my book. Have a good rest of the week
WOW ... what a museum. I love to see where you have been Chris. Thanks.
What an amazing find in a field! Really interesting.
That is really, really cool! How amazing those things survived!
What a magnificent Inn. And view. I'd never heard of the Arabia - found in a cornfield all those years later amazed me. Wonder how long it took to clean everything!
What an interesting story about the Steamboat.
And what goodies they found on it!
Thanks for sharing the pics of your adventure.

I love reading about what you discover on your travels. I think the Inn in Ashville looks like a beautiful place to visit. What a view! Also, the story about the steamboat that sunk is so interesting! They sure cleaned up a lot of stuff they salvaged from it for their display. Very cool.
I'm fascinated with the items salvaged from the steamboat Arabia! If I'm ever in the area I'll definitely be stopping in for a visit. Thanks so much for sharing! :D
Asheville is beautiful. The bbq meal looks, so good
OMG, all the stuff from the boat is amazing! So cool to see everything from that time. Makes it all the more real! Funny -- I used to live in Kansas and go to KC, but I never think of BBQ. lol! Thanks for sharing your travels. I always enjoy seeing where you've been. Nice stitch too!

That museum would be right after my taste. I love to see how people in old times used to live. Whenever I happen to be in that region I have to visit it.
