I hope that everyone is having a great weekend.
Rich and I spent the 4th of July doing things away from the crowds. It would have been great to go see fireworks or another ball game but we decided to take it easy and visited the Phipps conservatory.
What an amazing place. I am going to let some pictures show you all about it.
Some Chihuly glass.
Amazing orchids.
In every color..
Butterfly gardens..
Dessert gardens...
This guy looks like he is from Little Shop of Horrors...
More gorgeous gardens...
I am so glad that I got to see this place.
Yesterday we headed back home to NC. We made a small detour to Fort Necessity National Park.
This is a French & Indian War site where George Washington( at the age of 22) had to surrender. The tour that we were able to take with the park service guide was very informative. I am so glad we stopped here.
The park service personnel had black bands over their badges to honor the fallen firefighters from Arizona. When we went to the ball game they were also honored with a minute of silence. I am so saddened by this loss.
So, we are home and safe. Thank you for traveling with me. There will be one Pittsburgh post to come....the food post :) And I will show off a new start.
Have a wonderful Saturday.
Hugs

Hi Chris! Glad you made it home safely. All the years Col was in P'burgh, we never made it to the Phipps! Perhaps this coming year. And Fort Necessity sounds interesting -- I know Fletch would enjoy it.
Welcome back home :)
Big hugs x
Glad to hear you are back safely.

What a great place! If you ever come my way, on the east side of Pennsylvania, you must visit Longwood Gardens.

Love the pics of the Conservatory. Its sounds like you and hubby had a fun day out. I love PA. My father is from Lancaster but I haven't been back for a visit to PA since my grandfather moved to Arkansas some years back. It is a beautiful state. :-)
