First Day 2016

Happy New Year!
Rich and I went to a New Years party at a friends house. It was nice catching up with this group. Once the ball dropped we got out of there as soon as we could. We have an hour drive so we got to bed at 2:30am. Way too late.
How did you celebrate?
Rich and I went to a different trail head in the Uwaharries. We didn't get an early start, otherwise we may have gone to a different park.
The rain was gone but it was still cloudy.
This was a nice trail. It is fun exploring different areas. Many Sate and National parks host First Day Hikes.
How did you spend the first day of 2016?
The sun was out today so I got a picture of my 2015 TUSAL jar and my selection for my 2016 jar.
I chose this as my First Day start. It is M. Quertier by the Scarlet Letter. It is one of the SALs for the Scarlet Letter group for 2016. The kit has been in my stash for a long time. It is on the 35ct linen that was in the kit with black silk.
Here is my start. Not much but it is a start. I really enjoy stitching Quaker samplers. I feel a great amount of accomplishment when I finish a motif and I also enjoy monochromes.
Here is the aftermath of my fall last Sunday. I think it is on the recovery side and will start turning green and yellow.

So not a bad start to the New Year.
Here is wishing my readers all good things in 2016!

Chris

That is some bruise! I had a fall on New Year's Day, and I think I'm right behind you with the bruising. We didn't hike this year yet, but we just found out a body (skeleton, actually) was found in the state park we usually hike in! Not sure I love 2016 so far. Love your first day start!

That bruise looks so bad Chris.
So happy you started your 2016 with what you and Rich love doing good for you.
We stayed in and relaxed after a few busy weeks before we start again this week .
And yes I did stitch, love your new start.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you both.

Ack! What a bruise! And you still hiked!
2016 is starting out rough. Zero stitching. This neck! I am making an appt with a spine/neck orthopedic surgeon tomorrow.

Your first day start looks good. I really enjoy stitching Quaker designs. Your bruise looks painful; hope it isn't. Glad you and Rich were able to get a hike in.

Ouchie to the bruise . We use arnica cream , which helps to bring hte bruise out and seems to make them less painful.
I envy you your hike . It has been too wet here for us to venture out very far , plus hubby has been at work. Loving your new start and looking forward to seeing more. x

First off - ouch! Hope it looks worse than it feels! My mom, sister and I took a 90 minute stroll on New Year's Day around Delta Ponds - I need to post the photos of the birds. Happy New Year Chris!

Happy New Year Chris! Sounds as though you figured out how to travel and stitch and 'read' this year. I am enjoying looking at people's finishes collages. What we stitch says something about us, don't you think?

We had a quiet evening in with some fizzy bubbles and a box of choccies watching a film. We did watch the fireworks over London at the stroke of midnight.
Nice new year start

Happy New Year Chris and Rich: I was not able to stay up past 10:00 I was so tired so sleep took over.
Looks like a wonderful choice for your SAL, that Tusal jar looks very full and the empty one needs to catch up giggles.
I love the picture of you both outdoors, it is very sweet.
I hope your bruise is healing super fast, have had one of those big ones once.

Blessings

A great way to start the New Year with a First Day Hike, and good thatbthe weather was cooperating. And then the lovely tradition to start a new project on New Year's Day. I love the Quaker that you chose.

Our start into the New Year was quiet as usual. In the morning we were having a wonderful brunch with our best friends, this time at our house. And the rest of the day was stitching for me and computing for my husband. Just the way we love it.

Wow, this bruise really looks scary but when it is turning yellow and green the worst is over. But I think it still is a bit painful, isn't it?

I love the picture of you and Rich. Wishing you a wonderful 2016!

Ouch!! I had a bruise like that one once (slipped on frosty steps) and hope to not have another one like it ever!! Sounds like you had a very nice hike - The Hubs doesn't hike and I just don't feel comfortable going by myself, so the only hikes I get in now are to the mailbox and back - but it is a fair distance).
