I Packed An Umbrella

But what I needed was a boat!
My travel to Lake Charles, LA was a little eventful, left a little late, a passenger got sick on the plane and we had to wait for the EMTs to check her out and take her off the plane, then I got to the rental car place it was craziness!
It took the third bus to get me to the rental car place, then to get out there and wait in line for a car and there was a major traffic jam to get out of the place. Things were backed up because there were heavy thunderstorms the day before and then somebody hit one of the exit booths. Then it was a 2&1/2 hour drive to the store. When I got there they were closed for the day.
So now the boat part. My GPS said that the store was 9 minutes away from my hotel. But I could hear thunder storms and this is what the radar looked like
When I first left the hotel it was ok but then I ran into this...
Then this...
See I needed a boat! Ugh! I did not want to ruin the rental car. By 4 in the afternoon it was gone, crazy!
The rest of the week was pretty uneventful. There was another trainer at the site, so we did inventory on Wednesday and just helped out on Thursday.
On Wednesday Jen and I went to a hip hop class at a gym downtown. My calves   have finally loosened up. On Thursday night I went to Zumba with the pharmacist. One of the challenges of this job is to stay in shape. I am back on my diet and can call the first week a success.
Friday I headed back to Houston and was able to meet a friend that I haven't seen in about 18 years. We used to work together. She works for NASA. We didn't have time to do a tour but she did bring me this..
What a bonus it is to see some of my friends.
I got a tiny bit of stitching done on this..
I finished the flag. I have been reading on the plane. Maybe I will have to try and stitch.
So that was my first week. Next week I fly to Pittsburg early Monday morning, stop by corporate to pick up my laptop and phone and meet everyone. Then it is off to the store in Canton, OH.
    Thanks for traveling with me!

Chris

Travel certainly has lots of opportunties for craziness - I'm sure you will end up with lots of interesting stories. Great work keeping to the diet and getting in some exercise - I have problems with that and I am a total homebody. The cross stitch is cute - I'm in the mood to do some patriotic stitching too. Hope you have a great week...with less water in it!

Oh my gosh! Well that was an introduction to travel for sure! Yikes -- flooding makes me very very nervous! Hope Pittsburgh goes more smoothly. Nice you are getting to see friends along the way!

Holy smokes, girlfriend! I think you might need to start packing an inflatable ark in that suitcase. W-O-W!

Chris: What a bummer, I hope the rest of the week is better for you, just think finding excercise classes on the road, wow you are so lucky.
Have a safe and great week.

Catherine

P.S. the astronaut is so cool.

I almost always stitch on the plane when I can, I just get so much done because I'm "captive"

OH my, oh my, you can really call that craziness. Good to know that there was no accident due to the weird weather. Being able to meet with a friend certainly made up for all the inconvenience.

Wow! Crazy times Chris! I see now how you really needed a boat. It's not everyday you hear someone say "I have a friend who works for NASA!" Super cool :D Hugs from me and Titus :D

Wow! It looks like you are coping well with all of your travel snafus, Chris! I'll bet it would be terribly hard to diet while on the road... Best of luck to you. Glad you have a "portable" hobby like your stitching to keep you company when you travel!

Other than the small flood, it sounds like you had a good trip. Love the little astronaut. And nice progress on your stitching. It always takes me a while to get into the rhythm of stitching while traveling.
