I have been trying to update my blog the last couple of days but Blog Press on my phone has not been cooperating so I am trying something different. Has anyone else been having problems?
So back to Roanoke...
On Saturday morning Rich and I got up early to head here...
The forecast was for a sunny day and temps in the mid 60's so I wanted to beat the crowds. This is one of the most photographed spots on the Appalachian Trail.
I am so glad that we did this hike. On the way down there were lots of people headed to the top. The parking lot was absolutely full when we got back to the car. When Rich and I hike I use The Map My Hike app on my phone. It shows you your hike on the map, distance, speed, elevation gain and calories burned. At the end of this hike it told me that I was the Queen of the Mountain!! Woohoo!
Later in the day Rich and I drove up Mill Mountain to see the Roanoke Star.
Here is the view from in front of the star. McAfee Knob is one of those mountains in the distance. Roanoke is beautiful. I hope that some of you will have the chance to visit. I will definitely be back!
I hope that when I hit done that this will post. I have a few more things to post about Roanoke but will save it until next time.
Thanks for visiting and the birthday wishes for Rich.
Happy Hump Day!!!
Chris

Oh wow!! what a drop from that ledge... I'm scaredy so would have been telling you to come away from the edge lol.
What an amazing vista! I love a good hike; can't wait to put more miles on my boots this year. Thank you for sharing your hike and beautiful pictures! I like that "Queen of the Mountain"; way to go.

Positively beautiful.

What a beautiful hike. I could never stand at the edge of the ledge like that - yikes! I saw the sign for 2000 feet elevation. Was that the summit? How much elevation did you again on the hike up? PS in this part of the world something 2000 feet tall would be named Hill not Mountain! LOL!
really pretty pictures. Blog gives me a hard to from time to time.
I can see why that part of the AT is so popular. It's gorgeous! I'm not sure I would be out in that rock though. Looks scary.
That is amazing! I wouldn't be able to stand on that rock, but it's a beautiful view.
So worth the hike to see all the beauty. The one photo of Rich on the edge of the rock reminds of the Lion King:)) Love the sun rays in that one too. Some times blogger does have issues but I did upgrade to google chrome and that helped. I'm having other issues with my computer now. Frustrating I know.
love Annette
Oh yes, it definitely is worth it. What a gorgeous view. I couldn't stand so near the cliff's edge but I think the view is also gorgeous from a little bit more behind, lol.
Come back from the edge!! Gorgeous photos.
Great hike and the views were definitely worth getting up early.
Oh wow! Those pictures are amazing. So glad you had a nice time.
Beautiful hike!! My fear of heights may have kept me from posing for such a picture though!
