Friends & Sampler Guild

Happy Saturday Friends!
I hope that the rest of the week was good to you. My very busy work week was topped of with fun things.
On Thursday I met Vera & Leslie for some Mexican food in Asheboro. Myra was unable to join us. My heart is so heavy over her loss.
I last saw Vera in Pennsylvania last May and it has been a year since I saw Leslie so we had lots to catch up on.
Vera brought me a little treat and I was so excited when I opened this. I have been lusting over these fingerless glove/wrist warmers on etsy.

Aren't they fabulous? I am enjoying them. The wool is similar to the lovely scarf Krista gave me. I am all tricked out. Thank you Vera! I love the little spool that has lip gloss inside and the nail file too.

Friday night I met my friends Susan and Kathy for dinner. They were in town for the Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild meeting on Saturday.
I got to work a little on Margaret.

Hopefully I will spend some more time with Margaret next week. Where do you think that may be going?
The program for the guild was a lecture by Kathy Staples called "Samplers 101." The lecture was about the development of samplers through the past 400 years and what samplers tell us about the stitchers and their lives. If you ever get the chance to hear Kathy lecture sign up and go!

Kathy also brought 6 amazing pieces of needlework for us to study and guild members brought in about another 10 pieces.

Knowing more about the sampler tradition adds such a richer level of understanding and enjoyment to my stitching.

We finished the morning with lunch at Panera. What a perfect day.
Now to look forward to our April meeting! The guild has a fabulous road trip planned.
The sun came out today and had the feel of spring. I hope that tomorrow is as lovely.
I hope that your weekend is sunny and full of friends and stitching!

Wonderful guild meeting, & it sounds like you had a wonderful get-together with friends at the Mexican restaurant. YUM, by the way : ) When I saw the photo of the knitting, I thought maybe you had gotten bit by the knitting bug! They are beautiful fingerless gloves indeed. I have a soft spot for fingerless gloves : ) Have a wonderful week my friend!

The gloves are great. I saw a pair I want to get. I would love to join a sampler guild but we don't have one here in Gastonia.
