Splish Splash

Wow! Did we get rained on today or what! There was a very extreme front that moved through our area. This morning we had a weird colored sky and thunderstorms.
So what was I doing? I was driving through that mess with my friend Susan. After meeting Myra for breakfast in Asheboro we hopped in the car and headed off to Charleston. Our plans were to stop in Camden, SC to do a little sight seeing.

When we go there it was pouring rain. I don't know if you can see the big puddles and standing water in this picture but the tour guides were probably surprised when we pulled up to the front of the house. They were probably wondering what these crazy ladies were doing! This house was reconstructed in the 70's on the original foundation of the home that was here during the Revolution. Cornwallis occupied the house and Camden is the sight of a big American defeat during the Revolutionary War.

I wish the weather had been better because Camden is a beautiful historic town to visit. Instead of exploring more we hopped in the car to drive the last 2 hours in pouring rain to Charleston, SC.

We got checked in and headed a block over to Justine's Kitchen for an early dinner since we skipped lunch.

Yum! Some of our friends showed up as we were finishing so we sat and talked while they ate. It was a great way to decompress after the trip down.
Now to relax some and maybe stitch.

Maybe I will look at the recommended reading for the seminar before it starts tomorrow evening.
Maybe I will look up what great things there are to see and do in Charleston. This is going to be a fun trip.

I did stitch a little more on Summer Tribute last night when I should have been packing.

I was gifted with this fabulous Minion by my co-worker this week too. Her son did an awesome coloring job. It makes me smile.

I hope that everyone is safe, dry and warm this weekend!

Thanks for traveling along!

That looks like a wonderful house. I miss old, really old, things like that. We also had a horrid day. I am only typing this thanks to a generator, no power since about noon.

What fun to go to a weekend seminar in Charleston! Sorry you got rained on, though. It must be the same storm that came through here on Friday and washed away two-thirds of our snow! Love your progress on Summer Tribute!

Charleston is such a fabulous city...especially for walking...especially at night when the gas lights are lit. Hope you get a chance to stroll through the old market...they sell wonderful wraps and shawls at great prices...and have all sorts of Charleston gifts. Summer Tribute is just beautiful!
Have a great time,
Robyn

The weather was crazy here too Chris - thunder and lightening. Randleman had a lot of fallen tree damage due to wind.
Ya'll have enough fun for me too!

Horrid rains here too, Chris, but I'll take them over the frigid temps of earlier in the week.

I love Charleston--we went there for our 30th anniversary trip six years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it! Have a great trip :)

Oh, I love Charleston! I used to live in Goose Creek. I could go on and on about Charleston! Try to get over to Magnolia Plantation, John's Island to see the Live Oak, or to Sullivan's Island! Lots of great places to visit there!
