Coming To An End

Thanks for traveling with me and all of your kind comments and encouragement on my stitching. I am looking forward to catching up on my blog reading when I get home.
Tuesday, we woke up to more rain. Fortunately all the events for the day were very close by and inside.
The morning session was lectures on Charleston Colonial era samplers and other embroideries from Charleston. During the lunch break one of the sweet grass basket artisans came and gave a presentation on the baskets made here.
After lunch we went over to the Charleston Museum for a behind the scenes tour.

Some of the storage areas.

This was a textile that they brought out to show us. It was originally a bed covering but was cut up at some point.

It is filled with great Charleston scenes.

Look at the fabulous ship!

More houses.

A fabulous billy goat.
We then had a little more time to walk around Charleston.

This is St. Phillip's church. I am so glad it cleared up for the rest of the day.
Our final event was a dinner at a local restaurant called Muse. It is restaurant week in Charleston and there are special menus in most restaurants with special pricing for a 3 course meal.

This was a braised short rib with potatoes and kale and was very good. It was a great evening filled with friends and good food.
I did stitch a little more. I am always sad to put her away again but it is time to head home.

Here is a close up of the fabulous butterfly.

Susan brought me this wonderful little journal that she made. Thank you! I love it!

It was a wonderful event and time away.
Thanks for traveling along with me! Back to work in the morning....

I have fallen behind on my reading and commenting, so missed your trip. Charleston is one of my favorite cities. Went on a really fun ghost tour when I was there last. Your stitching is beautiful as usual. Hope your return trip was nicer than the going.
