Beautiful Charleston

What a difference a day makes. This morning I stepped out of the hotel into the bright sunshine and the beginning of a beautiful day.

We started here at the very popular Hominy Grill. You may have seen this place on the travel channel.
I went with the famous Big Nasty.

Biscuit, fried chicken, cheddar cheese covered with sausage gravy. It was delish. Susan had some wonderful pancakes with cinnamon sautéed pieces of apple.
If you visit Charleston add it to your list of places to eat.
After that we walked around Charleston.

Sweet grass baskets at the market.

Beautiful planters, I was quite taken with the colors in this one. It included cyclamen, oxalis, and flat leaf parsley.

Beautiful, famous Rainbow Row. Look at that blue sky!

Walking around the Battery.

This guy is in front of the firehouse across from the hotel.
We then decided to drive out to Sullivan's Isle to see Fort Moultrie.
This is a view of Ft. Sumter from the beach.

Looking back at the Cooper River Bridge.

The beach was beautiful today.

Not windy and temps were in the upper 50's.

The Sullivan's Island lighthouse, rather industrial looking.
After all that walking we opted for a late lunch on the deck looking at this view and watching the pelicans on Shem Creek.

The seminar started this evening. We went over to the Historic Charleston Society for a reception and lecture. It was great catching up with everyone.
Tomorrow we get on a bus at 8:30 to head out to Middleton Place. It is going to be a fabulous day.
Now, I am going to stitch.

I hope that you had a great weekend.
Thanks for traveling along with me.

Fiddle dee dee....I wish I had known about this seminar far enough in advance to attend. I'm sure it is wonderful.

I remember attending a sampler seminar at the museum years ago. In addition, Charleston holds a special place in my hear because Tom and I lived there for a year when we were still newlyweds.
