A New Start & Yummy Pittsburgh

Good Morning!
Sunday... already. I am trying to get back to the day to day normal after vacation so that tomorrow isn't a huge shock to my system.
Here is the new project.

This is my start on Penny America by Tree of Life Samplings. Barb (Wicked Stitcher Blog) gifted me with the chart after finishing it herself. I love it and have had it kitted up for awhile. It is so nice to be stitching a patriotic piece.
So now for my last Pittsburgh related post. Usually when Rich and I travel we go for the local sandwich specialties or ethnic foods available to us. We seldom eat at very fancy places. If there are counter seats available we will choose those over a booth.
Of course we had to find Primanti Brothers. This local eatery in the Strip District has been serving these huge sandwiches forever. Workers wanted their meals to be fast so they just smushed the side of fries on top if the sandwich fixings and put the slice of bread on top. I went with pastrami...

Wonderful bread. They don't have bread like this in Asheboro.
Here's the menu board..

We also had chili from here with bread and butter for dinner back at the hotel one night. Yum.
The next place to find was some Polish food so we ended up here...

The line was out the door and never went away.

We had peirogies, stuffed cabbage and kielbasa and it was wonderful. This meal brought back wonderful memories of Rich's Grandmother and meals on Long Island at her home.
Another stop during our week was also on the strip at Deluca's for breakfast.

There was a line here too.

Eggs Benedict for me..

Eggs, kielbasa, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and apples for Rich. No lunch needed after this.

We did have peanuts at the ball game.
Some treats from the Pittsburgh Popcorn Factory.

Some Italian ice...

Now it is back to salads:)

Thanks for traveling with me. I hope that you have a chance to visit this wonderful city someday.

Holy Toledo! That Primanti Brothers sandwich must have been hard to eat! Perogies!! Love 'em. You may need a lot of salads, right? ;)

Love the Primanti's sandwiches! I have to admit, the first time I had one, it was a little intimidating!

Thanks for sharing your vacation...it really looks like a beautiful city with fun things to do and EAT!! My son was on the design team for a stadium there--I think it was the pirates stadium..I cannot remember for sure. Now back to work...bummer!
