A Weekend Recap

Hello Friends!
I hope that you are drying out if you are on the east coast. If you aren't in the east I hope that you are enjoying some wonderful weather.
On Saturday morning I got up to prepare for the June meeting of the Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild. I was in the shower and of course the power went out. There has been so much rain here that I am sure a tree came down some where. This was our yard sale where we were getting rid of stash. So had I gone through some of my things before Saturday morning? no, you should have seen me with my flashlight!?! I need to learn not to procrastinate.

Here are some of our members in action. I think that everyone found some wonderful things. The proceeds are going towards the teaching fee for our class with Praiseworthy Stitches next June. You can find some info on the class here.
When I got home Rich wanted show me these little guys out back. Every time you stepped you saw movement.

They must have just hatched. They were so tiny .

Rich and I both got in 2 hikes over the weekend. Things cleared up enough we went out to our normal spot Saturday so Sunday morning we went over to start our hike at the Thorneburg tract.  It is part of the same trail system. And we saw this...
They are restoring this house which is the 1825 farmhouse on this property. The volunteers are camping out in tents while working on this project. I felt bad for them with all of the rain that we have had.
A little bit further behind the house and the dependencies I saw this huge spot of vinca. I bet the family cemetery is under this.
It was great hiking in another spot. Rich and I really need to do it more. It is great to see different things and hear different birds.
 Pretty clearing...
 Sharing the trail....
I was able to give blood Sunday afternoon. Of course the normal errands and some cooking for the week.
I am going to leave you with this pic.
Always remember not to mess with a granny wearing a superman cape!

Hugs

Chris

Oh that looks like a lovely hike.
Thanks for the advice about Granny. I'm sure it will come in handy one day. We have a large walmart here.
;)

I don't think I've ever seen frogs to tiny! What a lovely hike! I must admit I'm trying to picture you bent over your stash while holding a flashlight : ) Glad the yard sale was a success!

I love frogs. In one place I lived we used to put special bridges over roads for them to cross because they all came out of the ponds at the same time and were protected. Wish we had a walmart here!

Never seen a granny like her before!
We have tiny frogs and toads in the pond behind our home. Once in a while toads are here in our yard too.

Lol ~ gotta love Granny! Your hiking spot looked like a great place. Love that they are restoring the farmhouse ~ did you peek under the vinca to see if there were any grave markers?

I love stash sales--even though I don't need more stash. But if you get rid of some then you have the green light to buy some, eh? Is there a small turtle in that first backyard pic, too? Was your granny photo taken at a Walmart? (smile)

Your hike looks like fun Chris. I have never seen such a small frog. We have had a few come by with all the rain we have had.

Aren't stash sales fun??? I went to one a few weeks ago and came home with a bagful. Since they are for a good cause, I say that we are all "helping each other." Who doesn't need new stash??

Lol..Go Granny. So funny!

Love the granny pic!
You can always find something you must have when another stitcher has stash clear outs.

OMG! That superman caped granny is hysterical! Your pics of the tiny frogs reminds me of when I was young. The same thing happened in my aunt's yard! It was amazing, tons of tiny tiny frogs! They were sooooo cute, just like yours! And yes, I picked them up. lol! The guild happening looks great. Good for you for giving blood too!

Sounds like a fun way to acquire some new stash and for a good cause too! What fun it would be to be involved in a restoration project. Love super granny! :D

We were down in Asheville for a wedding this past weekend so I know all about your rain, Chris--whew! I thought the mountain home we were staying in would get washed right away :) Hope things have dried out by now.

Glad you were able to get some nice new-to-you stash and your hikes look great. I was hoping to hike at Chimney Rock State Park over the weekend, but the rain quickly changed that plan...

What a fun weekend you had! Those teensie frogs are just the cutest little things! Great pics, Chris.

...I hope I never come across a granny in a red cape at the market, because I'd have a stroke trying to hold in my laughter! OMG, how hysterical!!! :D

Good grief Chris, you wore me out again! Those little toads? frogs? are so cute. I'm always getting off the tractor to pick someone out of the grass and move him into the woods. Enjoyed the pictoral hike.

Ha-ha-ha -- the Granny pic is too funny Chris. Loved your hikes and the tiny frogs. We are still waiting for Mr. Toad to show up -- we always have a (LARGE) toad that stays around our patio all summer. The cat(s) find him interesting of course.
