About 9 years ago I stumbled upon a pattern of restaurant ware dishes that I fell in love with.
It is made by Wellsville and is a pattern from 1959.
I have learned from searching for the pattern that it came in 4 colors, black, red, blue and green. I have never seen it in blue or green. I have red and black.
The cool thing about restaurant ware is that it came in a huge assortment of sizes and shapes. Think about any diner meal you have had and what a load of plates the waitress would bring to the table. The picture above shows diner plates, 2 sizes of bread or side plates and the red & black version of the vegetable sides. I love using the vegetable sides.
The top piece is a big serving platter, the bottom is like the oval plates that meals are served on, can't you picture a BLT on it with chips on the side.
A big serving bowl and a smaller serving bowl. The box that I received this week had 4 of the smaller bowls in it. I can just picture using them as pasta bowls or for when we have large salads for dinner.
I have 2 of these long celery dishes. We use then in the summer for corn on the cob and sometimes for side of fries.
I don't drink tea or coffee or entertain so I don't really use these. Look at the different shapes. I have seen a picture of a mug but have yet to find any of my own.
The large red gravy boat was in the box too. It is much bigger than the black one.
I have a sugar and creamer too. And the small soup cups.
Are you with me still? Can you tell I love using these?
So what other pieces are out there? I have seen pics of a couple of different bowl styles a round rimmed soup bowl and cereal bowls. Anyway the hunt continues and they bring me joy every time I have a meal.
Here's a little progress...
Yes, I couldn't just work on the border.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend! I have to go get ready for a wedding :)

Every time the subject of what gifts we want for an occasion, my DS says, I think you need some more dishes! I see I'm not the only one with that issue ;-) Nice progress on the border.
Oh Chris, I love those dishes!!! I'm having a difficult time deciding which color I like best. I'd have to just get them all!

That is sooooo cool!! How did you discover this pattern? It really is wonderful -- I love how you've collected so many shapes and sizes. What a fun collection! Love your progress too.
Great dishes and a great collection. I collect vintage Fiestaware and I enjoy adding to my collection almost as much as adding stitching stash. lol :-)
What an awesome collection of dishes. I love the red and black. I am a dish lover and have amassed quite a collection of my vintage Desert Rose dishes. They are fun to use and collect. So, are you looking to add the blue and green to your collection or just focus on black and red. I'll be on the lookout although I can't say I ever remember seeing them before.
Great progress on your sampler. I usually stitch some border and then the area inside that border and then move down to more border then more inside. Etc., etc., etc!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Love the dishes!
Hope the wedding is fun! I have a weakness for dishes and your collection is wonderful , such pretty dishes!
Love those dishes! They are gorgeous. My mom didn't collect a lot of things but the one thing she loved and collected was dishes. I received all her dishes when she passed and have carried with her love of dishes.
Love your dishes and your stitching is looking fab.
Isn't it funny how the simplest of things can make us happier than jewelry or other costly items, Chris? I just love your dishes--so glad you are able to find more to add to your growing collection :)
THose are fun looking dishes! Are you going to try to collect the other two colors too?
