Weekend Things

It has been a pretty low key weekend here. The weather has been clear and cool, highs only in the 40's, beautiful.

The hellebores are stubbornly blooming.

On Saturday Rich and I ran some errands. First stop was a New Salem Pottery. If you are looking for red ware they are a wonderful source. They dig clay on their property and are very involved in the history of the trade in this area. Their property actually was the site of a pottery in the mid to late 1700's.
After that it was up to Greensboro to go to Target and some other stops. After the shopping Rich and I went to see My Week With Marilyn. It was really good, the cast was wonderful.
This morning Rich and I went for a short hike. I am finally starting to feel better. It is January so I am trying to watch my diet and start exercising again.
After the hike it was off to do our weekly grocery shopping. Do you have an Aldi market in your town? Did you know that Aldi owns Trader Joe's? I buy produce and a lot of staples here. They also have weekly special items, fit & light, Italian, Super Bowl party items. If you haven't checked them out take the time to do it. I usually buy my meat on sale at the other stores and stock the freezer at that time, but every week I go to Aldi. They are a German Company. Today I came home with cauliflower, at 99 cents a head I will be making a batch of soup. Also they had their brand of bagel bites, a 40ct box for $5.99. This is one of Rich's go to meals if I am working.

I made a batch of our favorite pasta salad. I use tri-color pasta or penne or elbows. Add chopped up tricolor peppers, red onion, cherry tomatoes and mini pepperonis. You can add black olives or cheese crumbles. Just add some sun dried tomatoe vinaigrette when serving. I will be taking some for lunch this week. It makes side for a sandwich.

My Winter Loose Feathers chart was waiting at the post office for me. I can't wait to start the winter section and to stitch the small Christmas sampler in the book.
I also got the little Lizzie Kate Flora McSample ornament chart.

The latest issue of The Magazine Antiques was in the box too. There is a small article about a sampler from the New York African Free School. There are some other beautiful samplers in adds from the Hubers and Finkels. Also there is a beautiful needlework casket in an add from Elliot & Grace Snyder. Eye candy!

Well I am going to go make dinner. Have a warm cozy Sunday evening wherever you are.

Your flowers -- wow! And that pasta looks so good! I still haven't made it to Trader Joe's. I really should -- everyone says how good it is. Don't have an Aldi's around here. Haven't seen that mag before either. Might have to pick one up.
