Escape

Hello Friends,
I hope that life is being good to you. I am missing you all right now. I have not had much time to check in or read blogs and I am missing my stitching friends. There has been not any stitching happening at all. :(
So a few things that I have been doing.

Swooning over the Lenten roses in the garden.

I went to see Kid Rock in Greensboro on Tuesday. He puts on a very good concert and of course it was a great people watching opportunity :)
Other than that I have been trying to Zumba and juggle 3 jobs. Things were better this week since at work and I have still not made a final decision. Thanks for all your kind words over this situation.
So, the title of my post...

My bags are packed and I am on my way to Nashville with my friend Louise( Cherished Stitches) and her daughter Robin(Threads of Memory Blog). Some great RR downtime for me. It has been about 8 years since I have been so I am looking forward to catching up with some friends.

So look for updates from the road!

Hugs

A Little Escape

Hello Friends,
Thanks for all your kind wishes about Zips. She is back home and my stitching budget is shot for the year. Maybe it is a good thing because I have plenty to stitch already.
Friday night one of my dear friends came into town for the Guild meeting on Saturday so we headed out to get something to eat.

We ended up at Dame's Chicken & Waffles in Greensboro. Yum! It was kind if like having dinner and dessert together. I definitely will want to go back to try one of their wonderful combinations.
After that we spent the night in town so we both wouldn't have to be driving up for the meeting. It was great catching up and having a calm easy morning before the guild meeting.
It has been a long time since we have seen each other so it was time to exchange Xmas gifts.

She gifted me with these wonderful mugs from Heartsting Samplery. Aren't they fabulous?
She also gifted me with some sweet mother of pearl thread winders and some other things to to pamper me.
Thanks dear Friend!
The guild meeting was wonderful and it was great to catch up since last year and to share our love of stitching.
I hope that wherever you are this weekend you have had some time to recharge and stitch.

Hugs!

The Good, The Bad & The Fabulous

The Good...

I got another of the bowls in my chintz pattern. These guys are hard to find. I have 1 in black so I am thrilled to find a red one.

The Bad...
When I was leaving work last night I got into Zippy and was sitting there and had started her up and she started sputtering and a light in the dash went on. So she has been carted off to the dealership. Rich came and got me. He drives 45 min south for work and I drive 45 min north. The poor guy had to do a lot of driving. Keep your fingers crossed that it is a under warranty repair!

The Fabulous...

This sweet Valentine's card and ornament from Myra. Thank you dear friend! The ornament is decorating my mantle.

Well, that's enough excitement for Friday morning.

A Spot Of Color

Every year I try to buy one new hellibore to add to my patch of them in my garden. They are so delicate and beautiful. Last spring I picked up one and I have been waiting for it to bloom.  Isn't gorgeous! This is the first ont that I have that has double petals. I consider things like this a gift.
Another gift is my friends. I had dinner with a frind that I only may see a couple of times a year and she had good advice for me and words of encouragement.
I am excited about the meeting of the Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild on Saturday. The program is a challange meeting. Last year the members were challenged to find out about needlework teachers and schools in their home towns. I have been doing my homework and I am so excited to hear what the other members have found out about. I am also looking forward to seeing everyone.
Speaking of gifts there is still time to enter my Sweets for the Sweet Giveaway.

So glad it is Thursday!
For all my friends in CT and NE please go to the store today and spend the next few days snug at home stitching since Charlotte is going to dump so much snow on you!

Hugs

Binx's Playground

There is a part of our livingroom that has become Binx's playground.
There are some boxes.

That may be stacked up and have some( a lot) of cat toys in them.
And recently Rich has been wondering what I have been doing with my day because various pieces of my clothing are scattered about the house.

This is a fleece top that I wear when lounging around after work. I may wear it a couple of days buy leave it on a chair next to the bed during the day.

Is that my nightgown?
Binx loves kneading my fleece tops. They must be comforting to him. I think he is trying to make a nest in the box. Anyway, now I need to lock up my clothing.

Who knows what I will come home to tomorrow.

You can get your own copy of this mailed to your door for just under $30. Just go to the Saco Museum website and see the catalogue with a buy now button on their home page. You will not regret it.

Sunday

Hello Dear Friends.

Every week  I hope that I can get into a normal routine and every week I am not able to do that. This week I need to be focused and make it happen.
Last Friday was really hard at work. It was very busy due to our printer failing the day before. Then I went and worked at my second job and Saturday I worked at a job that I am doing a test drive on. Is it worth less stress and to be able to work 4 days a week for less money? I have to figure this out.
I finally settled down tonight and picked up my January Halloween ornament.

I think I will fill the orange side in with black and the black side in with orange. What do you think?
I have my February stitch picked out and of coursethere is my Scarlet Letter piece. I need to settle myself down to stitch. My mind has been too busy to focus on stitching or sleep. Ugh!
The upcoming week I have dinner planned with a friends on Thursday and Friday and the Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild meeting in Saturday. Check out the guild's blog. It has info about samplers, exhibits and our programs.
Thank you for all the kind comments and entries in the giveaway. You have been giving me great travel ideas!
There is still plenty of time to enter the giveaway. Just comment on the Sweets For The Sweet post.
Have a great week.

"Floss-poo"

Apparently this is the technical term for that fuzz that is left behind on your linen when you frog out a string color like red or black.

This is the motif that had to be taken out and restitched. I usually cut the stitches from the top and pullout all the little pieces. Sometimes I use a soft tooth brush to get leftover fuzz up.
This is stitched with DMC.
Are there other fibers that are harder to cut out? That leave more "poo" behind? How do you go about frogging?
Sorry about the poor pic.

I hope that everyone is having a great week. I hope to get back to my normal blog reading/commenting schedule soon. I hope to get back to a regular in all parts of my life soon.

Have you entered my giveaway yet? There is plenty of time. See my last post for the details. Those of you that have already entered I appreciate the comments and your favorite getaway info.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Chris
