Happy Memorial Day

Or the start of summer.
When we lived in Connecticut every town had a Memorial Day Parade to honor the armed services. There is only one town in NC that celebrates with a parade. One day I may get to it.
Susan and I had an uneventful trip home from PA. The Dry Goods Market was a wonderful event. I can't wait to go next year. On Saturday I attended 3 lectures and Vera(no blog) came to visit the market and we had lunch. It was great to see her and catch up.
On Saturday night we were able to catch up with friends at an informal pizza party at our friend Kathy's house. It was wonderful to catch up with friends and talk about the event, samplers, etc.
I did stitch in the car on the way home.

This is Margaret Randolph. She has been in my stash for awhile and is a wonderful travel project.

There has not been much stitching this week. I have been busy with the normal stuff.

This guy was in the driveway in front of my car the other morning. I was not able to get very close. He would get upset and wave his claws around. I guess that he was on the driveway to dry out. We have had a lot of rain this spring.
Well that is it from here.
Have a wonderful holiday! If you have to work I hope that everyone is kind and it will be an easy day.

Hugs!

Friends Well Met

Dear Friends,
It was a beautiful day today in Pennsylvania. This morning was a fairly leisurely one. After picking up our friend Louise we headed into Quakertown to find an Art-o-mat machine that was listed on the company's website. Unfortunately it had been removed. So it was off for a quick tour around the farmer's market.

In our travels we also drove past this notification...

I didn't see any chickens...
Then it was on to the Schwenkfelder. Our afternoon was spent catching up with friends, a little shopping, a couple of wonderful lectures on samplers and early needlework pattern books, church lady lunch...

Shoo-fly pie. When in PA....
After finishing up there we went and had a quiet dinner in Quakertown. The building the restaurant was in has been a tavern forever.

then back to the hotel to rest and prepare for another full day tomorrow.
There may be a few more stitches in this tonight.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great weekend!

Running Away

Dear Friends,
I am headed off on another adventure. I will be attending lectures and hanging out here...

For the next couple of days. Textiles, samplers, friends....just the type of diversion that I need.
I met up with my friend Susan this morning in Greensboro. Greensboro is very noisy right now due to these guys....

The 17 year cicadas are out.

Yuck! And it sounds like there is an alarm going off, they make so much noise.
Susan and I spent the day traveling up to Pennsylvania. We stopped in Harrisonburg, VA to have lunch with a friend and then made the rest of the trip in time to have a laid back dinner and scope out where we have to go tomorrow.
Since we are in PA, we opted for Cheesesteaks for dinner...

Yum.
We are settled into the hotel room. I might stitch, or I might just crash.
Thanks for visiting and for your always kind comments.

Hugs!

Plodding Along

I have made a small bit of progress on this BBD piece. If I pull a color I try and use it all up before switching to the next color. I am not patient enough to stitch the border first which has lead to heartbreak on past projects. Oh well, this border doesn't really meet up so, no worries.
This showed up on my news feed on Facebook..

Diet coke and needlework. Together. It doesn't get any better!
Do you do a double take when you see cross stitch or needlework in an ad? I hope it is a trend that we will see lots of.

Sweet Dreams!

Sunday Dinner

I tried a new recipe in the crockpot yesterday and it was yummy. This would be perfect for a cold winter night. You can find the recipe here.

Happy Monday.
