Lucky Girl

Hello Dear Friends!
I hope that you have been having a great week. Things here have been chugging along.
I was the winner of Lainey's Olympic giveaway and my package arrived yesterday!

Ooh! I was so tempted to rip the paper of right away and dive in but I went on from the post office to my Zumba class then went home and showered and then I opened this package. I am proud of myself for having so much control that I waited that long to open it! LOL.

Look at all the lovely things. Fabric, chocolate, a notebook.. Look at that tin! It is definely going to be used to hold some of my finishing supplies.
But the best thing is this...

Isn't it wonderful? I am so happy to have my own piece of British/Jubilee stitching. I am going to put it on my desk so that I can spend a lot o time with it.
Thank you so much Lainey!

Lainey does so much for the stitching community. She is the organizer of the Stitched With Love Exchanges an the Christmas All Year Long SAL. Her
Blog is Lainey's Stitching Hoose.
Please go visit her.
On another note, the air conditioning units were stolen from the center where I Zumba. So while the insurance company works on replacing them there have still been Zumba classes. I have achieved a whole new level of sweatiness this week! Yuck! Unfortunately the scale says that there has not been additional weight loss too :(

Have a great Thursday!

Chris

Sort of Like A Day At The Beach

Hello Friends.
Thank you for all the comments on the last post. I think it is perfect without the backstitching.
The weekend flew by. On Saturday Rich and I headed up to Winston Salem to the annual air show. About 40,000 people attend this event over the weekend.

You take your chairs and face the runway. The noise is kind if like the beach with the airplane notice taking the place of the ocean. The beach that we alway went to ( Long Beach Island, NJ) had planes that would fly down the beach towing signs.

They had quite a few WW II planes, some helicopters...

and some jets but they were too fast for me to try and take a picture of.

We had a great time and came home a little sunburned.
Sunday was spent doing some housework, cooking and grocery shopping.
I am working on some of the over one motifs on Marietta but I haven't made much progress.

Well that's it from here.
Have a great Monday!

Backstitching? I Think Not!

I finished stitching my August ornament for the Christmas All Year Long SAL.

This is the Little By Little ornament from the 2004 JCS ornament issue stitched on a mystery piece of 35ct linen with the recommended DMC threads.
The chart called for some backstitching on the bird and on one of the ribbons and packages. I have decided that it looks great without it.
I hope to do the finishing on this before the end of the month.
Now for some stash diving to find next months ornament.

Sweet Dreams!

Dishes Not Stitches

Happy Monday Stitching Friends!
Thanks for all your kind comments on my needlework display. I hope their are some people that start stitching or think about stitching because of it.
This post is about my continued hunt for dishes in my pattern. I got 2 pieces off eBay this week.
First is a large 13" platter in black. I had it in red but now I have a black one. Yes, imagine me happy dancing and fist pumping :)

Here is is next to it's red sister.

Here is one of the small ovals that we use all the time for a sandwich and chips. You can see how large the platter is.
Then I got one bowl. I had no idea what size it would be. It is actually bigger than I thought.

It is more like chili sized. Thank you Vana( it is actually Rich) for your assistance.

I put one of the cups that is used for a cup of soup or dessert inside so that you can kind of see the size difference.

So now I need to be patient and maybe I will find some more of these bowls.
Isn't restaurantware fun? So many different shapes an sizes.

Happy Monday!

Show Off

Hello Friends.
For awhile I had a part time job at the library in Seagrove. Seagrove is a very small town, there isn't even a grocery store.
The town is very well known for it's pottery. There are some amazing potters here.
Anyway back to the library, there is a display case there so I offered to put some of my needlework in it for a month. I did a display form them before but is has been about 6 years since then.

I stitches all the pieces except for the BBD small pillow. I received this in an exchange from Deborah at Cranberry Samplings.

Also the scissor fob with my initial was stitched for me by Nataly at Nataly's Needle Creations.

I mostly put in pieces that I have stitched in the last 2 years.

Maybe it will inspire someone else to pick up a needle.

Peace.

Work, Work, Work

What is your work area like?

I have a desk and a lot of file cabinets that are behind me. I process Patient Assistance Applications for medicine at a Behavioral Health facility.
The pharmacy area is in front of where I sit so when the other tech is out I work the counter too.
The only needlework on display is my wallpaper on my computer screen. The sampler is Ruthy Rogers.

I also take care of these guys.
So what does your work area look like?

Rich runs a 6 color sheet fed press. He works out of this toolbox. All those picture in the lid are of trucks. I think that there is a note that I put in his lunchbox. Maybe I need to stitch him something to add to the collage?

I hope that everyone is having a great work day. If you aren't working I hope that you are home stitching!

Wednesday Greetings From The Boys

Binx & Beau have been neglected here lately.
Here is Binx..

He loves it when we bring a box home from the grocery store. He I immediately involved in the unpacking process and the cardboard box inspection. He has gotten quite big and probably weighs about 14 lbs. now.

Beau sometimes gets too comfortable where he has decided to nap and falls off. He is still my stealth ninja cat even though he has these clumsy moments.
There is not much stitching happening since it is during the work week, but here is my progress on my ornament for this month.

Ooh sorry about the shadow.
As always, thanks for checking in here and for all your lovely comments.
Happy Wednesday!

Thanks For The Inspiration

I recently had to put together a gift for one of my friends. I usually stitch her something holiday themed, Halloween or 4th of July.
After seeing all the fabulous Jubilee exchanges over at Stitched With Love Blog. I decided I needed to stitch something jubilee themed for my friend. The only problem that I had was access to a suitable pattern. I only found a couple available here in the US.
Here is what I decided on...

This is the design by The Sampler Girl. What a fun design to stitch. I used the recommended DMC colors.
Here is the back...

The backing is just a plush cream color.
Here is a picture of everything that I included in her package.

I added a pair of Union Jack Scissors and a couple of tins of Harney & Sons tea. The tin on the right is their Diamond Jubilee blend. The other flavor is cinnamon spice. If you love tea you should try this one.
Thanks everyone for the inspiration. Thank you Lainey for hosting such wonderful exchanges. I hope to participate in another one soon.

Happy Monday Peeps!

I Have A Carb Hangover

Wow. I had a busy day!
It started here...

I met one of my friends for breakfast before going to the Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild meeting. We had a great time catching up and had a yummy diner breakfast. I had eggs, corned beef hash, hash browns and rye toast.
Then it was off to our guild meeting. The program was Summer Surfing. Here is a picture of everyone with their laptops or tablets.

All of the communication for the guild is going to be done via email or the groups blog so we need to get everyone up to speed. The goal of the class was also to introduce the members to online resources and information.
After the meeting we went to a local deli for lunch. More carbs in a sandwich for me. In for a penny in for a pound I guess!
So then it was back home to get ready to go to a wedding.

Rich has worked with Justin for many years. He is a wonderful guy and we were so happy to be included in their day.

Fortunately the rain held off.

The reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst.

The table settings were lovely and each table had a different arrangement on them, the arrangement vases were all different heights.

Here is part of the beautiful buffet.

And look at this cake.

It was very yummy too.

This is the bride dancing with her Dad. Her dress was lovely.

This was one of the most beautiful weddings that I have ever been to.
Congratulations Leslie & Justin.

So as to my blog title... Too many carbs, I am not used to that and I feel like a truck ran me over. Back to the diet today!

Have a great Sunday!

A Little Cooler

Good Morning!
Thanks for all the kind comments on my last post. The last few days there have been some heavy thunderstorms that have cooled our temps down to the 80's. It was actually 68 when I got in the car today.
There has not been much stitching going on and I don't think that there will be any more until maybe Sunday. Here is my ornament progress.

This Saturday is the Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild meeting in Greensboro. We have started a blog of the same name to provide information and for member to share sampler/stitching info. We hope to make it very informative.
I got a couple of things in the mail..

Part 2! I want to start part 1 but I need to finish some other things first.

I love the new LHS ornament I think that it is a perfect companion for the Baked Goods ornament(I still have to stitch that one too!).
Rich and I have a wedding to go to Saturday evening so I am going to have a busy day. Actually today and Friday are going to be that way too. I foresee another pajama day on Sunday :)
I hope that everyone is having a great week. Take care and stitch on!

Uncle!!

That's it. I have reached that part of the summer when all I can think about is October. I can't seem to cool off. I look forward to back to school being over so that the stores put out the Halloween/fall items.
So what have I done about it? Well today I had a very slothful day. I have stayed in my pjs and watched tv and stitched.

I did the finishing on my July ornament.

I am very pleased with it.
I also picked out my ornament for August. The theme is a present so I have picked this one.

It is the Little by Little ornament from the 2004 JCS ornament issue.
I have been doing no stitching during the week and I miss it. I have a lot of projects that I need to catch up on and start too! Maybe I will hit the lottery.
I have been dieting since the beginning of the year along with exercising and though I have lost over 40 lbs. I am feeling like calling uncle here too. I have about 10 more lbs. to lose and then I want to work on maintaining for awhile. I just have been very hungry this weekend :)
Also I am 5'8" so though the weight loss seems like a lot, but my size hasn't changed as much as I would like. I am hoping in the morning I will feel better and be able to refocus.
I have been trying to catch some of the Olympics every day. I ruin the suspense by seeing the results online before I can actually watch the event.
Thanks to everyone that left a kind comment about my grandfather on my last post.
I am hoping to catch up on my blog reading and commenting soon.
Have a great week and stay cool!

Peace.
