TUSAL

I decided to join the fun this year.

There is quite a bit in there. It is a good start to my stitching year.
It was a quiet weekend here. Saturday was rainy and Sunday was cool and dreary.

Rich and I went out for a short hike Sunday morning.

Isn't this moss amazing looking? The greens are lovely.
I made a big pot of Pioneer Woman's cauliflower soup. This has become one of our favorites and is perfect for a day like Sunday.
I have a busy week coming up but I hope to get some stitching done.
Be safe friends. Have a great Monday!

Woot!

Another one back home.

Not the best pic. I will take a better one once I have it up on the wall.
Here is a close up of the frame. It is kind of a moss green.

I had a nice dinner this evening with my friend Louise. She is getting for Nashville and it is always exciting to see new designs. We had some Thai food. Yum :)
Instead of breaking down and going to EGA I went to see my Mom. A much better use of my time.
That's it from here. I need to get to bed, I have a long day tomorrow. Pleasant dreams!!!

A Few More For My Flock

I am almost done with the Autumn section. I just need to work on the alphabet then it is on to the Winter chart.

Today I had some quality stitching time. I made it to and through a Zumba class but after that I was done. So I spent the day stitching. I did make sausage and peppers for dinner. Now time to head to bed so I can start the work week tomorrow.

Binx sends his regards and wishes everyone a great week.

Hugs

Weekend Things

It has been a pretty low key weekend here. The weather has been clear and cool, highs only in the 40's, beautiful.

The hellebores are stubbornly blooming.

On Saturday Rich and I ran some errands. First stop was a New Salem Pottery. If you are looking for red ware they are a wonderful source. They dig clay on their property and are very involved in the history of the trade in this area. Their property actually was the site of a pottery in the mid to late 1700's.
After that it was up to Greensboro to go to Target and some other stops. After the shopping Rich and I went to see My Week With Marilyn. It was really good, the cast was wonderful.
This morning Rich and I went for a short hike. I am finally starting to feel better. It is January so I am trying to watch my diet and start exercising again.
After the hike it was off to do our weekly grocery shopping. Do you have an Aldi market in your town? Did you know that Aldi owns Trader Joe's? I buy produce and a lot of staples here. They also have weekly special items, fit & light, Italian, Super Bowl party items. If you haven't checked them out take the time to do it. I usually buy my meat on sale at the other stores and stock the freezer at that time, but every week I go to Aldi. They are a German Company. Today I came home with cauliflower, at 99 cents a head I will be making a batch of soup. Also they had their brand of bagel bites, a 40ct box for $5.99. This is one of Rich's go to meals if I am working.

I made a batch of our favorite pasta salad. I use tri-color pasta or penne or elbows. Add chopped up tricolor peppers, red onion, cherry tomatoes and mini pepperonis. You can add black olives or cheese crumbles. Just add some sun dried tomatoe vinaigrette when serving. I will be taking some for lunch this week. It makes side for a sandwich.

My Winter Loose Feathers chart was waiting at the post office for me. I can't wait to start the winter section and to stitch the small Christmas sampler in the book.
I also got the little Lizzie Kate Flora McSample ornament chart.

The latest issue of The Magazine Antiques was in the box too. There is a small article about a sampler from the New York African Free School. There are some other beautiful samplers in adds from the Hubers and Finkels. Also there is a beautiful needlework casket in an add from Elliot & Grace Snyder. Eye candy!

Well I am going to go make dinner. Have a warm cozy Sunday evening wherever you are.

WIP

I have made some progress the last couple of nights on the Autumn section of my Loose Feathers BBD project. I have been back at work this week but still not feeling better enough to do anything but sit in the evenings and be still. The bird is taking forever.
Have a great Thursday. Be careful if you are due to get some snow.

Hugs!

A Sweet Surprise

Good Morning Friends.
I received this wonderful little envelope in the mail yesterday. Katherine from Regaling From Windy Ridge passed on these sweet charts to me. And I always need needles. I found Katherine's blog a couple of months ago. She is currently working on Anniversaries of the Heart and has been blogging about it and some wonderful family history. She also has some amazing headers for her blog.

I made it through work yesterday. The rest of my time is pretty quiet since I am still wiped from this crud. I did work on my BBD piece a little. I am working on the very large autumn bird. Not too exciting but will post an updated pic soon.
I also found another new blog. She is having a wonderful LHN giveaway. Please visit Heather at Heather's Stitching Story.
Speaking of LHN, I love the first ornament of this year's series. My Mom loves angels so I think that this is one that I definitely need...and soon :)

Wishing everyone a good Tuesday.

All Right Already

I am still fighting the crud. I will be calling the Dr. if things haven't improved by Monday. Rich went to the Dr. yesterday and is on antibiotics too :( Oh well. It has given me some stitching time.

I have been working on part 2 of the Loose Feathers.

Binx has spent some time with me.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I am hoping to be feeling well enough tomorrow to get to the grocery store. Sorry for the whining :( Chris - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Starting the New Year With a Small Finish

Well I decided to join the Christmas All Year Round Stitch-A-Long. You can visit the blog HERE. I wasn't ready to sign up for one of the Stitched With Love Exchanges right now or one of the other Stitch-A -Longs taking place. They just seemed to much for me to think about right now. This little exchange seemed to be just my speed and I figured maybe I could get some ornaments finished this year.
So this months theme is Santa and here is the little guy I picked. He is from The Prairie Schooler chart 172 Christmas Favorites. I pulled a piece of mystery 35ct linen and the charted DMC floss out of the stash and this is what I came up with.  I used the corner patterns from one of the other designs for the back. If I am finishing this way I like the back to have some detail too instead of just the date. Sorry for the poor pics. I think I need to invest in another camera.
This project kept me still and quiet in my chair so I didn't move around much and start coughing. I am planning to go back to work tomorrow. I am hoping to feel better in the morning.
So I will start back on my Loose Feathers stitching soon.

Have a good evening, stay warm and keep stitching.

A Matching Pair

Pair of what you say? A pair of shots, one in each hip. An antibiotic and steroids. Hopefully it will kick this cold, acute bronchitis, out of me. In the meantime I am back home in my pjs. Ugh. At least the nose isn't running the way it was.
I hope everyone is having a great week. I am enjoying seeing everyone's 2012 stitching starts and challenges.

I am almost done part 1 and I am getting ready to move on to Autumn. This cold is making it hard to stitch, between the Kleenex and trying to focus. I have spent my out of bed time in my chair watching the Bourne movies, today I may move on to Pride and Prejudice. For now it is back to bed.

Thanks for stopping by!

Looking Back at 2011 Stitching

A few finishes and few WIPS.

Thanks for coming by. I am still attached to my box of  Kleenex and fighting this nasty cold.

Happy 2012!

Wishing all my friends a wonderful 2012. I am thankful for your friendship and comments.

I have succumbed to the nasty head cold that is going around. I am almost ready to resort to sticking Kleenex up my nose. So 2012 can only get better from here!

I wanted to share this hot chocolate recipe with you. I was gifted some of the mix from one of my co-workers. It was so pretty. The recipe can be found HERE. The hot chocolate is very rich and yummy. I use less less than 1/3 cup to make a large mug of hot chocolate. My friend used the Red Bird peppermint sticks that you find here in the south.

I need to go find another box of Kleenex!
Peace,

Chris
