Quick Post

I have lost the battle with Binx. My tree is looking kind of stupid. I keep having to move ornaments up and I really haven't cares about their placement.
Thanks everyone for the interest in Susan Jackson. Margaret, your name was pulled out of the hat so please send me your mailing info.
I hope that everyone has a good Monday, mine is going to be really busy.

Part 3

Hello Friends,
It has been a quiet weekend here. DH has been finishing taking care of the leaves and I have had some time to stitch.

I have finally made it to part 3 of this mystery sampler. I finally got the border done. I am not one of those disciplined stitchers who stitches the whole border first. I can't do it. I am hoping that the rest of this will go pretty quick and then maybe I will stitch an ornament or two.
The Christmas tree is up. There are no glass ornaments on it and the bottom quarter is empty because the boys think it is some kind of big kitty toy. It has been a long time since we have had kittens in the house. Maybe in another year or so they will settle down. So for now my tree is not as fabulous as it normally is.
That's about it from here. If you are traveling home tomorrow, be safe.

Digesting & A Product Review

Hello Friends.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and was blessed with a wonderful holiday dinner. I had my plate of brown food, no green beans for me! I had some turkey, stuffing, mushrooms, mashed potatoes and some turnips....all in the brown family, with a little orange thrown in. Yum!
Rich and I got home about 7:30 and decided to catch up on some TV. I had bought this little kit a couple of months ago at Michaels. I had seen these kits on line and thought cute! So I was in the store and they had them and I took out my iphone and looked up a Michael's coupon on the Key ring app and checked out. I think the kit cost me $5 or $6 after the coupon. So not too much out of pocket if it doesn't work out.

There is a stocking kit in this line that has a deer on it that I think looks pretty good but I figured baby steps. So I dove in. The pieces come pre punched so you know where to place your stitches.

The felt seems really thin and as I started I was a little worried that they wouldn't be fabulous but 2 hours later.......

Maybe I need to find that Michael's coupon and head over there tomorrow at 5am! Just kidding. I will not be going up to Greensboro to shop. I will lay low and stay away from the madness. Here is another detail close up.

I haven't done any finishing on any ornaments this year but now I have 3, whoot!  Our tree is up and not decorated. I am waiting to see if the boys take it out. There have been some branches shaking, there are definitly no glass ornaments going on the tree this year.

That's it Friends, I am going to go to bed with a full tummy and my itch to stitch satisfied.

Chris

Thankful

Wishing all my friends a wonderful holiday spent with family and friends.

With Needle & Brush

I received my copy of this new book by the Hubers last week.
It is the book that goes along with the exhibit that was at the Florence Griswold museum in Connecticut last year. I didn't make it to the exhibit so I needed this book.

These Mary Lockwood pieces are a couple of my favorites in the book.

You might want to put the book in your holiday wish list.
I also really like following the museum on FB. The put up beautiful paintings from the collection a couple of times a week.

Happy Tuesday!

Pay It Forward Susan Jackson

Hello Friends,
In going through my stash I found another chart that I have stitched. I had this chart from the symposium that they had in York County, SC and then I had taken the class for this sampler at another event in York County.

She is really pretty.

If you would like the chart please leave a comment on this post. If there is more than 1 person interested I will draw a name next Sunday.

Have a good week. Be careful on the roads.

Saturday Chores

Yea! A day at home.
I started the day dusting.

These guys on my mantle. Since I had them down to dust and to rearrange I decided to put up some holiday lights behind them.

The boys were trying to help. I also picked out a jar to use for next year's TUSAL.

After that I purged some stuff out of my closet and ran it over to Goodwill.
The rest of the day was spent puttering around thinking about holiday decorations.

It was a restful day. I did put a few stitches in the mystery sampler, not enough to post a pic.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Break

Hello Friends,
I am taking a couple of different types of breaks. Right now is the one from when I go from the day job to my other job. I am sitting in the parking lot :)

I got this back from the framers yesterday. Please forgive the poor picture. I will get it hung up over the weekend.
Last night was the monthly EGA meeting. My friend Louise and I went out for Japanese beforehand. I think that I am going to take a break from EGA for awhile too. I don't seem to be getting much out of the meetings and the membership has changed some so I don't see some of the people that I enjoyed. There is some other chapter issues that are bothering me too. So time for a break.

Here is the eggnog poundcake that I made for the meeting.
I am looking forward to doing some stitching. I have to do some housework. After u get out of work at 10 I am planning to go to Walmart to pick up some things so I don't have to fight the thanksgiving crowds.
I am enjoying seeing everyone's ornament finishes. They are fabulous!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Housekeeping & Mail Out

Hello Friends,
I hope that everyone is having a great week. I have been trying to catch up on stuff at home after being on the road so much this past month. I have a big weekend of dusting and cleaning planned so that I can think about putting up the tree next weekend.

For the 2 pay it forward charts. Cath, please email me your address so that I can get the Bent Creek chart out to you.
There was a lot of interest in the Sarah Marston chart so we drew a name. The chart is going to Laurie in Iowa. Laurie please send me your info.
Tonight after work I will be making some eggnog pound cake for the refreshment for the EGA meeting on Thursday.
That is about it from here. Have a great Wednesday!

Airport Finish

Here is my finish of Snow Is In The Air by Bent Creek. We got stuck in Philadelphia for some extra time this afternoon so I was able to finish. Something else out if my stash and finished yahoo!
I always pass on my charts so if anyone would like this one let me know.
Before Rich and I left Bangor we drive around some and looked at the houses. Bangor has a lot of Federal and Victorian style homes. There are many Maine homes that are huge. They added on and on and attached the houses to these massive barns. They are just amazing. You don't see anything like it where I live now.

This is Stephen King's home. Look at the bats on the gate :)

This is another famous structure in Bangor. It is a water tower.

Rich and I got home in time to get ready for the work week.
Now I need to finish the mystery sampler and then maybe onto some ornaments.

Thanks for going to Maine with me.
Have a great week!

Travel Tip

Hello Friends!
If you haven't noticed I have spent quite a bit of time in hotel rooms. I used to travel for my job all the time. Two years ago I was gone for 2 months straight, now my travel is mostly recreational.
One of the things that I do is this...

And I use the little paper hat for this....

It keeps me from knocking my jewelry around or losing it.
Last night we went to the hockey game at the University of Maine, the played UMass and lost:(. The team skated out onto the ice from this big black bear.

Today was another busy one visiting with family and friends, breakfast with a friend from high school and then it was back to spend another day with family in Lincoln. We ended up driving up to Millinocket to have some lunch.

The Pelletiers have a show on one of the cable stations. It mostly bar food. But the company I was with was the best.

Gingerbread cheesecake! Yum!
I hope that everyone is having a great weekend!

Hugs

Greetings From Bangor

Here is Paul Bunyan. This statue stands in front of the Bangor auditorium. They are doing all kinds of construction around him and there is now a big casino across the street. It has been 10 years since I have been here so there are a lot of changes.

Our flight got in at 3pm and we rushed over to the Cole Land Transportation Museum. This us one of the snowplows in the collection. The museum also has old fire trucks, railroad and trucking stuff. They also have all these amazing pictures of all the towns in Maine and the railroads.

This is the Enfield, ME train station. It was so cool. The museum is now closed until The end of March and we will definitely visit it again.
After that we headed over to Dysart's for some dinner. If you read Stephen King you have probably heard of Dysart's. It is a truck stop that has great food.

Rich and I split an Indian pudding for dessert, I never see this dish in the south. Yum! Tastes like fall.
After dinner we headed over to Eastern Maine Medical Center to visit one of the guys I went to high school with. I am here to visit his Mom and since he was in the hospital we stopped to catch up.
This morning it was up the road to Lincoln, ME. The speed limit is now 75 after you pass Orono. My Maine mom just spent the last month in the hospital so it was so great to see her at home. It has been 10 years so it was very special for me. We spent a couple hours catching up. Then she had to head off to a Dr. Appointment.
Rich and I headed back to Bangor to hunt up an Italian for lunch.

Yum!

Chopped onions and green peppers are always on an Italian.

Our next stop was to see the new Bucksport Bridge over the Penobscot. The old bridge was one of my favorite scenic views in this area.

It was windy, rainy and getting colder.

Tonight we are going to go see the Black Bears play UMass in hockey.

Thanks for going on this trip to Maine with me.

Remember our veterans.

Travel Woes

Why did I book that 5:30am flight? I could have slept later!

The hop from Greensboro to LaGuardia was fine but the problem is getting out of LaGuardia. There are lots of canceled flights.
So, what to do?

I went stash diving to find this travel project. I have been listening to a few of Michael Connolly's Harry Bosch short stories from Suicide Run. I love Harry! Does anyone else read this series? I think Chris Cooper would make a great Harry Bosch.
So my big plans for the day in Bangor are shot. C'est la vie!

Here is a funny pic of Beau from last night. I don't know why the tongue was sticking out.

I hope that wherever you are you are having a great day!

Lucky Girl

Yes, that's how I am feeling today.
I had a good day at work and then went to dinner with my friends from work. We had some yummy sushi. I meant to take a picture but forgot. I had a hurricane roll and some gyoza.

I stopped by the post office onu way home and there was a package from Myra (gr8dame's place).

Look at these beautiful quilted placemats she made me! I love them! I love snowmen!

She also sent me this wonderful pair of Ginghers that I have been lusting after. I think on our last roadtrip she had to hear about my frustration with our local Joann's fabric store when I went to try and find them. I am trying to decide what type of fob they need.
Also included was a wonderful autumn Bent Creek chart.

What wonderful things!
Here I the lovely wrapping job she did.

Binx had to check it out for me.

Thank you Myra! I am a very lucky girl.

Sweet Dreams!

Quiet Birthday

Hello Friends,
I hope that everyone had a nice quiet Sunday. My day was very quiet. I am going out to dinner tomorrow night for dinner with some friends from work and on Thursday I am headed up to Maine. The ear ache is much better. It doesn't hurt any more when I put my head on the pillow.
Rich went out to get the papers this morning and stopped by the post office.

And a box was waiting for me from a dear friend.

Inside were these beautiful over sized mugs. The color doesn't show up well here but they are a pretty green color. Also some marshmallows and some yummy peppermint cocoa from Williams Sonoma. Thanks for making my day!
No, the pumpkin was not I'm the package :)
I spent some of the day stitching.

I put the other bird in and some leaves. I won't take this with me on the trip. I need to pick a project to take with me.
I am really enjoying seeing all the ornaments that everyone is stitching up. It makes me want to stitch some!
Well that's it for today. Have a wonderful week and thanks for all the birthday wishes.
