Bringing up the rear..

I did get some stitching done this weekend. Here is my progress on the mystery sampler. I have loved seeing everyone else's progress on this one. I did have to rip out part of the border but other than 1 small set back I am moving a long.

It rained here a little this weekend. It has been so hot and dry it was a welcome event.

I hope that everyone has a great week!

As requested...

 Hello Blog Friends.
I hope that everyone has had a great Saturday. I got to spend some more time with my new copy of the Micheal and Elizabeth Feller Collection book.
Over the years I have accumulated a large library of sampler books. I love sitting down with them and looking at the samplers. They are always and inspiration.
This one does not disappoint. The pics that I have added are the table of contents. this book is mostly English 17th century pieces.  There are samplers, purses, and those fabulous pictorial pieces. As always there is a large sampler chart included in the cover of the book.
The book was $80 and I paid $8.55 in shipping. It is available from different places. I ordered mine from Books 'n More. She has a small sampler book business and usually is at the boutique at Christmas at Williamsburg or Jeanine's Gathering of Embroiderer's in Williamsburg. She always wraps the book so it is opening a present and ships it carefully. If you are looking for a particular sampler book or this one and would like to order from her shoot me and email and I will send

you her contact information. Remember Christmas is coming, you can always let your family know that this is on your wish list :)

I have been struggling to sit down and stitch. It seems that I am having a hard time focusing. There are too many distractions. I am going to try and stitch tonight and catch up on watching this season's first episodes of Haven.

Rich picked me up from work on Friday and we went to see Captain America. Rich really wanted to see this one. I have to say that I did enjoy it. It wasn't too serious and was kind of campy! So there was another night of no stitching.

Rich and I did the errands and grocery shopping this morning. The farmer's market, gas station, grocery store. Fresh corn, yum. I hope it is sweet. Our garden has been vandalized by the deer and other varmints. We are only having luck with green peppers and basil.

That's it from here. Have a great Saturday night!

Peace!

Chris

Treats

Hello Friends!
It was another scorcher here in North Carolina.
I stopped to pick up my mail in between my jobs today and I hit the jackpot!
My copy of the new book from Needleprint came and it is lovely!

Some of the pieces pictured in this book are amazing.
This came too.

A very good mail day. I will be spending some time with these this weekend.

Sweet Dreams!

Done With This!

I mean this little chart.

I did the finishing on these this evening. One for my Mom & one for me. Mine is the scissor fob version, a perfect match for this pair of ginghers. I did not put a weight in the fob. What do you usually do? Use a quarter?
Things have been pretty busy here. Not much stitching. You can see another small start in the back. I need to get back to another bigger project. It will most likely be the mystery sampler from With Thy Needle.
I think the heat that we are having here is messing with my productivity. I come home from work and crash. I have changed departments at work and I am adjusting to a slightly different schedule. The move is a good thing.

I took some zinnias from the garden today to brighten my work space up.
My other excuses are that I have been busy with other the commitments, the second job, friends, etc.
Last week the Groupon deal of the day came up as cheap tickets to go see NKOTBSB. So what the heck!

Rich went with me. Men were probably outnumbered 10 to 1. He was amazed when he took a trip to the men's room and found it filled with women. Now, I know that anyone who has been to a stitching event has been in the same situation has used the men's room! I have! How about you?
So the concert... One of the opening acts was Matthew Morrison from Glee. Wow! After that it was a tag team concert by New Kids and Backstreet Boys. I didn't really know that many of the New Kid's songs, at that time on my life I was working 60 to 70 hours a week. I did know more of the Back Street Boys songs. I think the screaming could be heard in outer space. Especially when Donnie Wahlburg would pull up his shirt or take it off. Anyway we had fun.
The rest of the week is going to be busy. I am working the next 2 nights at my second job after my 9 to 5, Fridays Rich and I usually do something so for the weekend I hope to lay low and do some stitching.
I hope that you are all staying cool an getting some stitching done. Thanks for all the kind comments.

Hugs

Relationship Issues

#1. Blogger
I write out these comments to my Blog friends and I get stuck in the sign in loop and I am unable to post a comment. I wish that they would get this issue fixed.

#2 Zippy
My car has been acting up. She went into the shop yesterday and needs a new fuel pump. Hopefully I can pick her up on Monday. So in the meantime I am driving a loaner.

This is a Mini Countryman. It is huge compared to Zips. I have nicknamed it BB. Any guesses what that stands for? It is fun to try out something new but when you are driving I think you are more comfortable in your regular ride.

#3 My Feet
I don't understand why I keep having issues. Yuck!

It didn't help matters that I ram over a box turtle Wednesday morning on my way to work. O usually stop if I can to move them out of the road. Heartbroken.

I did go see Harry Potter last night. Take Kleenex if you are going.

I am getting ready for work. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a chance to get out of this funk and do some stitching.

Happy Saturday!

Chris

One More Time

I have room on this piece of fabric to stitch up one more of these little cherry ornaments so I should be able to finish it this week and put the 2 together.

It has been wicked hot here so o have been laying low. I should have been accomplishing mote stitching but the frogs on my iPad have been distracting me!

That's about it for my midweek update.

Keep cool and keep stitching!

Home again, a finish and 1 day left!

Hello Dear Friends,
Rich and I got home late this afternoon. Chattanooga was a great place to visit. We will definitely be going back to visit.
Yesterday morning we stopped at the Mini rally to check out what else was happening. After some talking, tire kicking and some retail therapy we headed back to park the car at the hotel and to head
over to the aquarium.

These are some of the corals.

Amazing jellyfish!

A wonderful butterfly habitat.

My favorites were the seahorses.
They had a lot of different kinds.
After that Rich and I had a laud back evening watching movies and eating take out pizza.

I did finish this one. Cute! It has been a very long time since I have stitched on Aida. It was hard readjusting to it.
The trip home was fine. Rich and I stopped at the farmer's market in Asheville for corn and tomatoes. We stopped in Statesville for hot dogs at Jay-Bees.
Laundry is in, the hummingbirds have been fed and the water is heating up for the corn.
Tomorrow I will catch up on my blog reading and comments. Thanks for your patience.
I will be drawing my giveaway winner tomorrow after 12 pm. You can can still throw your name in the hat. The drawing is for the small and a gift certificate from the shop decided on by the winner and me. Just leave comment on my post on 6/26 titled Blogaversary.
Until tomorrow then!

When I woke up yesterday morning.....

I didn't think that I would be going to a mini rally...

Rich and I walked down to the visitor center and overheard the discussion about the rally going on.

So we headed out to the hotel where it was taking place and found out that they were headed up to this campground by the lake for lunch and for a panoramic photo. So that is where we ended up for lunch. This club was very nice. Lots of old minis. The spot for the picture was beautiful and it was in a different time zone, central time.
We really couldn't find out what the other events were. Rich and I might head over there again.

Rich and I stopped here for an afternoon snack. Chattanooga I'd the home of this hamburger chain. They are little burgers that are like White Castle's.

For late afternoon Rich and I took a walk.

This is a pedestrian bridge that gies over to the north shore.

This is a view from the bridge of the park on the north shore.

They also have a carousel in the park.

I didn't think that I would be taking a ride on this either.

After our walk we had some pizza at a local place called Lupie's. It was excellent. Then back to the hotel for some stitching.

Are you worn out yet?

So today there is a greater chance of rain so we are going to the aquarium.

Happy Friday!

Wow Chattanooga!

Hold on tight!
First stop yesterday was to the Museum of Recovery and Towing. Chattanooga is the home of Holmes towing, it is where the crane tow truck was invented in 1913.

Here is our favorite truck in the collection.

After Rich had plenty of time to look around while I played with the pocket frogs on my iPad.
Then we headed back downtown to the hotel, parked the car and took off on foot, many of the attractions are very close.
Our next stop was to sign up for the 2pm Duck Tour.

Rich lives military vehicles and has been wanting to one of these for years.

This was the view before splashdown!

Captain Barry was a great funny tour guide. He had lots if stories about Chattanooga and was very funny!

Here is a view of the aquarium from the water. I think this is where we are headed today.

So after the Duck tour we stopped here...

This is a Key West and a s'mores
cupcake. It is very bad that this place is a block from the hotel.

This is a couple of blocks from the hotel too. AT&T field, home of the Chattanooga Lookouts. What better on a summer evening than to go to a ballgame?

So we had an action packed day. There are many more things for us to do and see. What will today bring?

Maybe a little more stitching? Or not!

I hope you all have a great Thursday. I will catch up on my blog reading and comments when I get home.

Hugs

Chris

Travel Day

Hello Friends,
I hope that everyone had a great holiday weekend. Rich and I went to a fun party at a friends house.
Yesterday Rich and I headed down the road to Chattanooga. We had to make a detour here...

We are staying downtown and will probably try to see the aquarium, go on a duck tour, catch a ball game and go to the museum of Recovery and Towing. There are no cross stitch stores here :(. They are few a far between any more.
So here is my next question, what kind of projects do you travel with? Do you take a big project or a small to work on? Does the count matter?
I dug around in the stash and came up with this...

A small Pine Mountain kit. I am looking forward to a vacation finish!

I hope everyone has a great day and I will keep you updated on our adventures.

Peace

Another one

Yup! I stitched up another one of these for my Mom. She loves cherries, so this one is perfect for her. I have enough room on this piece of fabric to do one more so I will probably stitch up another one.

Here is Rich. He has been working on a stone wall and some steps out back in his work area and has finally finished up.

This is at the top of the steps.

And here is part of the wall. Wow!
So far I have not accomplished a lot. Rich and I went up to Greensboro to do some shopping and by the time we got home it was 2pm.
Tomorrow I am going to get up to get some housework done. Rich and I ate going go a 4th of July party at s friends.
I hope that every one is having a great weekend with family and friends.

Happy 4th of July!

Score

The score that I am talking about is some corn and tomatoes from the farmers market for dinner tonight. Is there anything better?
The tomato plants that we put in this year are pretty sad. It has been very dry the last month. There were some thunderstorms that came through on Tuesday and dropped the temps and really cleared the air and the days have been beautiful.

Thursday night a group went out after work to celebrate our 2 pharmacists still having jobs and one persons retirement. Remember the ceramic party? This is the platter that came back for the retiree. We all put our fingerprints on the plate and the pottery place drew all the little animals. Isn't it cool. My fingerprint came back as a ladybug :)

Last night after work Rich and I went to see Transformers 3. The special effects were amazing. The storyline wasn't the greatest but I enjoyed it.
After the movies Rich and I went into downtown Greensboro. This is a famous spot. The Woolworth's where the lunch counter sit in took place. Here is another cool building.

We met friends of mine to hear some live music and some dancing.
On the stitching front nothing has happened. I am going to change that today.
I had time to catch up on reading my favorite blogs and commenting and replying to comments. There is still time to enter my Blogaversary giveaway. I am trying to decide what to add and I am leaning towards a gift card.
I need to go get some housework done so that I can stitch.
