This Looks Familiar

I started the mystery sampler from With Thy Needle & Thread. I have been following along with everyone's progress and finally decided to jump in. I still need to finish a couple more smalls but I will try and make some progress on this too.
It is finally raining here. It has been very dry for the last couple of weeks so I am glad for the garden.

You never know where Binx will show up!
There is still time to enter my Blogaversary giveaway. Just leave a comment on the Blogaversary post.
I hope everyone is having a good week.

Made it to Saturday!
Good Morning Friends!
I hope that everyone had a great week!
My morning started with a quick trip down the road to meet up with Myra(Gr8dame's Place Blog).

Look what she brought me! One of her fabulous wallets and some of the Miracle Hand Lotion. Her treat came with beautiful printed tags she made up. She pays such attention to detail.
After a little breakfast we headed over to Lynne's in Siler City.

WOW!!! I bought some linen after Myra put the bug in my ear about hand dying it. When I get around to doing that you can be sure that I will post info about my adventures here! I also bought some cording to add to my finishing kit and some small pieces if fabric for backing ornaments.
Then it was a stop at a local orchard where we picked up some fresh corn! Yum! I am looking forward to dinner.
It was a great short visit. We both went on our way with plans to go down to the next Saturday stitch-in in S.C.

Since we were going to the orchard, I made this small for Myra. The freebie is from Le Chalet des Perelles blog. I am going to stitch up one for my Mom. She loves cherries! And maybe one for my giveaway. What do you think? I have been using the leftover floss from Strawberry Garden. The colors are perfect!

Well, I am going to vacuum and do some stitching. Bath & Body works has a free giveaway today so I am going to run out to get that and get some gas.
Have a wonderful Saturday!

Visitor
Hello Friends,
I hope that everyone has had a great week. It has been a busy long one here. When I got home today from work I had this visitor on my patio. What a sweetie. I haven't seen her around before. She looked like she was in good shape and was very sweet and sociable. It is the first time I have seen her.
I didn't accomplish very much stitching. I did the finishing on a small piece but that is about it. I am trying to plan a Blog anniversary giveaway. It has been a year already! Stay tuned for details.
For now it is off to catch up on some things. I will have another stitchy update tomorrow.
Sweet Dreams!

Ceramic Party

Last night after work I joined my coworkers for a retirement celebration at the Mad Platter in Greensboro. I had not been to one of these places before. You pick out a piece of ceramic and paint it. It was a lot of fun and provided a place where you could visit and move around.

So in about 10 days I will get this back. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. I should have done some switch plates but I didn't see them until later. I think I will take my Mom to do this. It was fun. It was also interesting to see what other people did.
Dinner was pizza an cake.

Is this cake amazing or what? Inside was white cake with outline icing in between the layers.
After the party I went with some friends from the party to Churchill's in downtown Greensboro for some music and dancing. The band was great and
I enjoyed dancing with my friends. When I got home it was about 1:40 and when I came in the door Binx was all puffed up! All his fur was sticking up and his tail was all fluffy, I guess he was scared.
Today was spent doing laundry, grocery shopping, getting a haircut, and some stitching.

Now I have to do the finishing on this little piece.
Tomorrow is a work day, but not until 10am.
I have been posting from my iPhone and seem to be making more spelling mistakes. Forgive me, these little keys on the touch screen are temperamental.
Thanks for your comments.

What Time Is It?
My day started about 3:20am. I took Rich up to the airport in Greensboro to catch a 6am flight. Our nephew is graduating on Monday. Rich is going to spend some times with his parents and his brother's family. I would like to have gone but we have found it easier to do it this way.
After dropping him off and watching him go through security I headed to my Mom's and we went and had and early breakfast.

Then I headed home. I stopped at the post office and this was waiting for me! Yeah! I love the ornament issues. There are 3 or 4 in this issue that I would stitch.
I went back to bed for awhile, ram some errands, made banana bread and hung out. I took the day off from work since I thought after my early morning adventures I would not make it through the day easily at work. Our monthly EGA meeting was tonight and I didn't go to that either. I just couldn't justify driving up to Greensboro again.

So I have been doing some stitching.
Tomorrow it is back to work. There is a retirement party for one of my coworkers. We are going to the Mad Platter. This is one of hose places where you paint the ceramics and it is fired. It should be fun.
Happy Friday everyone!

Goldfinger
Or gold toe! Lol!

I gave myself a pedicure last night. I can't decide if I like this or it looks like I have some nasty nail fungus. I am wearing sneakers today so I really won't have time to decide. Tomorrow is a sandal day so I will decide then.

I really like this new nail polish from Revlon. It is called Top Speed and it dries fast and lasts well.
Last night I was able to stitch and I am pleased with the design. It is perfect for a sweet gift. I may have to stitch up a bunch. I am using my leftover floss from Strawberry Garden.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I hope you are having a great week.

Harvest Home Finish
Hello dear friends,
I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I worked today. It was a good smooth day, you can't ask for more than that.
I stitched some yesterday and was able to finish this one off tonight.

As always I would like to pass on this chart. If someone would like it please shoot me an email.
Now I need to look at my stash. I need to make a couple of gifts.
I am itching to start the mystery sampler. I don't want to get side tracked.
I hope that everyone has a great Monday.

Yea Saturday!
I hope that everyone has had a good week. Saturday is going to be spent close to home after a couple of hectic days.

I got my package from Needlecraft Corner. They have great customer service. I added the new Prairie Schooler charts to my stash, a piece of linen for Sarah Rambo and the With Thy Needle Mystery Sampler to my stash.

A little progress.
I hope everyone has a great day.

Current lunchtime project

Getting floss ready for the Susan Rambo sampler. I have been watching everyone's progress on this one and I am very tempted. I am just using DMC floss. Aren't the colors amazing!
I haven't yet figured out stitching with the new cats. I will be sitting in my chair and someone will decide to leap onto my lap....

And I end up bleeding or I have to hide my scissors or they run off with a pack of needles.

What do you think this one is planning next? He looks like he is up to no good.
That's it for now. I hope everyone has had some time to do some floss fondling!

Saturday fun...
Fun if you are a history geek.

This morning I headed up to Old Salem to attend a Saturday symposium at MESDA on George Washington. The talks focused on pieces in the MESDA collection that had connections to Washington and the curator from Mt. Vernon spoke about the collection at Mt. Vernon and how they helped in understanding Washington. I had recently listened to the new Washington biography by Chernow so it was nice to see many things that were mentioned in the book.

The first picture is of the single brother's house and this picture is Salem Tavern. I walked around a little this morning before registering.
There was a nice lunch served with an amazing white chocolate bread pudding desert. It wasn't bread but more of a pudding with a great texture and a pecan and sugar topping. I will find this recipe! Yum!
After that it was a stroll around the Art in Clay exhibit about the pottery produced in this area from the mid 1700's to the mid 1800's. It is a beautiful exhibit. If you have the chance to see it you should go. After being at MESDA the exhibit will go to Williamsburg. Go see it!
I am going back to next Saturday for another seminar on the trades of the area.

So, what to stitch next? I am waiting for an order that I placed. So I reached my hand back into the basket and pulled out this UFO. So now you know what I will be doing tonight.
I hope that everyone had a great day.

Lazy Daisy Crazy

Finally a finish! Here is Strawberry Garden from Blackbird Designs. I probably started this the year it came out in 2006 and it was a third finished and languished in my UFO pile until recently.
I have enjoyed the colors in this and the specialty stitches. I think that I will be happy if I don't do another lazy daisy for awhile. I enjoyed the blanket stitch centers in the center of the blue flowers.

The basket was just alternating strait stitches.

Now the chart will be mailed off to a blogging friend to stitch next. Maybe it will become one of those traveling charts.
I need to pack it in for the night. I am going to a program at MESDA tomorrow about George Washington. I will take some pictures of Old Salem to share.
Sweet Dreams!

Midweek

I am getting close to finishing Strawberry Garden. I have to finish all the lazy daisies and a few berries. I had picked up my stitching to bring to work so I could stitch some on my lunch hour and the needle that I had threaded up the night before was gone! I think that I know where it went. I caught Binx pulling the needles out of my pin cushion. These new cats are really into everything! Fortunately I gas another needle in another project with me so I was able to put the blanket stitch centers in my flowers at lunch.
It has been very hot here, upper 90's. I had a cool sushi dinner with a friend that I used to work with last night. It was a perfect meal for this hot weather.
Today is the day when I work both jobs so I won't get home until after 10. Hopefully I van stitch during lunch.
I am still giving away the charts from last week's post. I know that everyone has been having Blogger issues so if you would like one of the charts leave a comment on that post.
Stay cool!
